Bhubaneswar, July 22: The NITI Aayog has declared 11 more blocks of Odisha as Aspirational Blocks, said an official release.
According to a communique issued by the Chief Minister’s Office, of the total 11 blocks declared as Aspirational Blocks, five are from Keonjhar district and six are from Mayurbhanj district.
The Aspirational Blocks Programme is a comprehensive and inclusive development process, aiming to bring rapid improvement in the socio-economic indicators of backward regions through the coordination of various central and state-level schemes.
Five blocks – Champua, Jhumpura, Keonjhar Sadar, Patna, and Telkoi – of Keonjhar district has been included in the list.
Similarly, six blocks – Bahalda, Bijatala, Jamda, Kusumi, Rairangpur, and Tiring have been included in the list.
With this, the total number of Aspirational Blocks in Odisha has now reached 40.
“This will further accelerate the all-round development of Odisha’s rural areas,” it stated.
