Bhubaneswar: In a positive development at the ongoing OdishaMSME International Trade Fair 2014, a delegation of traders from European
countries expressed keen interest in sourcing leaf plates and plant containers
from Odisha. Hana Meiners, a German National, a representative of Leaf Republic
Ltd. (a plant container manufacturer company) from Germany held discussions
with Odisha MSME Secretary Panchanan Dash on Saturday evening to take this
forward. Quite impressed with the potential in Odisha for export of leaf plates
and plant containers, Meiners exuded confidence that Odisha can become a major
exporter of thee items to European as well as other countries overseas.
The demands of Eco-friendly and healthy plastic products are
high in European countries and the need of these hygiene products have been
growing day by day in western as well as other countries, she added. However,
she asserted that the entrepreneurs here should maintain international standard
and quality while manufacturing these products. Odisha is blessed with ample
natural resources and raw materials to set up these types of industries and we
are hopeful to make export activities with the local plant container
manufacturers and rural people and knot the trade relationship with Odisha if
the quality of these products matches to international standards, said Hana.
