Slew of plans get Cabinet approval

Bhubaneswar,
February 8, 2018: The Odisha Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik
on Thursday approved a slew of proposals, including bifurcation of Tourism and
Culture Department and renaming Culture as Odia Language, Literature and
Culture Department.
Other
decisions include amendment of laws for recruitment, promotion and
strengthening of Government service cadres, setting up of a State-of-the-art
automated dairy and milk production plant with production capacity of 5 lakh
litres, five water supply projects worth Rs 370.60 crores to benefit over
2 lakh people in fluoride affected blocks of Khariar, Boden, Nuapada, Komna
blocks in Nuapada district, tendering for construction of Under Ground Pipe
Line Irirgation System (Gravity Flow) for 13,982 Ha and  Command Area
Development for 29,000 Ha of Lower Indra Irrigation Project in Nuapada
and  Balangir districts.
The
Cabinet also gave its nod to amend the Odisha Municipal Act, 1950 (Odisha Act
23 of 1950) and the Odisha Municipal Corporation Act, 2003 (Odisha Act 11 of
2003) to bar voting through secret ballot during no-confidence motion.
Proposals for amendment of Odisha Veterinary Service Group ‘A’ (Method of
Recruitment and Conditions of Service) Rules, 1995 for promotion of OVS group
‘A’ officers and amendment of Odisha Jail Service (Method of Recruitment and
Conditions of Service) Rules, 2012 for promotions also got the Cabinet nod.
Proposals
for amendment to OSJS & OJS Rules, 2007 by raising the percentage of
reservation from 1% to 4% and relaxing age limit from five years to 10 years
for Persons with Disabilities for the post of Civil Judge and amendment of
Odisha Employment Service Class-II (Recruitment and Conditions of Service)
Rules, 1990 for direct recruitment through OPSC were also approved by the
Cabinet.
This
apart the Cabinet also decided to ensure guarantee in favour of Aska Cooperative
Sugar Industries Ltd for borrowing cash credit loan and payment of cane dues to
sugarcane growers while proposal for waiver of land premium and other dues for
installation of RADAR Station in Ganjam district by Airports Authority of India
and sanction of lease of Government land to AAI for development of Jharsuguda
Airport also got the Cabinet nod.
The
Cabinet also approved Odisha Agricultural Engineering Service (Recruitment and
Conditions of Service) Rules, 2018 to strengthen Agricultural Engineering Cadre
and Odisha Service of Auditors (Method of Recruitment and Conditions of
Service) Rules, 2017 for promotion of Treasury auditors.
