Bhubaneswar: The Airports Authority of India, Biju Patnaik
International Airport, Bhubaneswar organized “Diabetes Awareness Drive” here at
the airport, where free health check-up camp was set-up in association with Med
Plus, KIDS Multi Speciality Hospital, Rabindra Surgicals Pvt. Ltd., National
Research Institute of Ayurvedic Drug Development (CCRAS) and Aditya Care
Hospital to sensitize and enlighten the passengers and airport staff towards
better health and life style management and raise awareness of the causes,
symptoms and treatment of diabetes. 

Attending as the chief guest Odisha Halth and Family Welfare
Secretary P.K. Mahapatra highlighted the importance of awareness about the diabetes
and  congratulated Airport Sharad Kumar for
extending their support in spreading awareness and also in providing a platform
to various health organizations to come together and work as a team in this
fight.

Mahapatra also said that diabetes is caused not only because
of un-healthy eating habits but also because of our changed lifestyles. Our
hectic work-schedules; lack of physical exercises and physical activities are
also some of the causes for diabetes. Hyper-tension and depression have become
common in children too these days and this to can lead to future ailments. The
only way to curb the spread of diabetes in the society is through awareness and
counselling and the steps taken by Airports Authority of India are very noble.
