Odisha announces health insurance for journalists

Bhubaneswar:
In a bid to appease journalists’ community in the State ahead of the elections,
Odisha government on Tuesday decided to introduce family health insurance cover
for journalists in the State.
Chief
Minister Naveen Patnaik approved a proposal to this effect. Under the
announcement, journalists and four of their family members would be entitled to
health insurance coverage plan of Rs 1 lakh per annum, said press release
issued by the Chief Minister’s Office here.
Earlier
during the last Assembly session, the working journalists of Odisha had staged
demonstration inside the Assembly premises on several occasion to press their
demands and also submitted a seven point charter of demands including health
insurance for the scribes to the Government.
