Bhubaneswar: Senior BJP leader Bijoay Mohapatra on Tuesday
alleged that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is the main accused in land and plot
scam and demanded a CBI probe to unearth the truth.

Briefing mediapersons here, Mohapatra, a bête-noire of
Patnaik, said there is enough evidence to hold the Chief Minister as an accused
in the entire illegal allotment of lands and plots under discretionary quota.
“The Chief Minister
had known the illegalities since October 15, 2012 when the CAG wrote to him
seeking his intervention after the GA and BDA failed to comply with its
observation even after repeated reminders,” said Mohapatra.

Mohapatra said, “The CAG first on June 4 and then on July 6,
2012 had written to the BDA and GA Department to expedite the production of
records regarding allotment of lands and plots. But the same was not produced.”
Following it the CAG wrote to the Chief Secretary with a copy
to the Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister for their intervention on September
11, 2012, said Mohapatra.
As the situation did not improve the CAG, New Delhi on
October 15, 2012 wrote to the Chief Minister seeking his personal intervention in
the matter. But nothing tangible has happened as yet, alleged Mohapatra.
Alleging that the CM is directly involved  in the land and
plot scam as Mohapatra also rubbished the setting up of a task force by the Government
to review all land allotments made by the BDA as a farce.

“The task force cannot overrule the observations of the CAG.
The Government has formed it to suppress the entire matter as it did in chit
fund scam by ordering a Crime Branch probe. Hence, the Government should order
for a CBI probe into the entire incident to save his and his face,” said
Mohapatra.
