Bhubaneswar, Aug 21:  The Communist Party of India (Marxist) State
Committee on Thursday demanded CBI inquiry into the large scale mining, land
and plot scam in the State and slammed the Chief Minister for his silence over
the housing scam.
“The Chief Minister’s
silence in the housing and land scam is dubious. Why the Chief Minister does
not make any statement while many of his senior party leaders and officers have
taken houses, land and plots illegally,” party State Unit president Janardhan
Pati told mediapersons here.
Pati said since many
influential persons are involved in the mining, land and housing scam only CBI
inquiry can unearth the truth.
“In chit fund scam the
Government in the name of Crime Branch probe was protecting the culprits.
Similarly, in the hosing scam the Government is trying to suppress the housing
and plot scam. Hence, we demand CBI probe both in mining and housing scam in
the State,” said Pati.

“The State committee
has passed a resolution demanding adequate compensation to the flood hit
victims, interest free loan to flood hit farmers and immediate fulfilment of
vacant posts in colleges and schools across the State and a CBI probe into the
vast mining and land and housing scam,” said Pati, adding that the party would
take to street from September 5 to 15 to press the Government to execute its
demands.
Pati further alleged
that the State Government has completely failed to ensure law and order
situation, transparent governance and check of corruption.

“On an average Chief
Minister’s home district Ganjam is witnessing one murder in every three day
while the administration instead of nabbing the culprits are seen protecting
them,” alleged Pati.
