Triple murder rocks Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, October 14: In a
gruesome triple murder, a doctor, his caretaker and the latter’s minor son,
were hacked to death in the Khandagirivihar area under Khandagiri police
station on Tuesday morning.
The deceased were identified as
Dr Atul Chandra Meher, an Orthopedic specialist, his caretaker Prasanta Behera
(40) and his minor son Minu Behera (15). The attacker Sneha Swakhyar Samal (40),
staying at Sailasree Vihar in the city was also nabbed and now undergoing
treatment at the Capital Hospital.  
The suspected murder weapon was
found from him, said Commissioner of Police Dr RP Sharma.
However, the exact reason of the
murder and the identity of the accused is yet to be confirmed, added Sharma.
According to police, on Tuesday
between 6.30 am to 7.20 am the accused went to the residence of Dr Atulya
Meher, Orthopedic Specialist working at KIMS Hospital, situated at
Khandagirivihar and attacked his caretaker Prasanta Behera by a knife causing
his instant death.
When his son Minu Behera (15) and
wife Runu Behera (36), protested, the accused also brutally attacked them by the
knife causing severe injuries.
When Dr Meher came out of the
house after hearing the screaming the accused stabbed him by the knife in
presence of his mother and wife and then tried to escape. The attacker was also injured in the scuffle erupted during the attack. 
Following information, police
rushed to the spot and found the bodies lying in a pool of blood in the house.
Meanwhile, the forensic teams pressed into service and the bodies sent for
postmortem.
While Dr Meher and Minu Behera
succumbed to injuries Runu Behera who was found in an unconscious state has
been admitted at Capital Hospital.
