Chit fund case: Odisha Govt spends Rs 48L as lawyer fees

November 24: The Odisha Government has so far spent Rs 48.02 lakh towards lawyer
fees in the submission of affidavits vis-à-vis chit fund scam case in the
Supreme Court.
Finance
Minister Pradip Kumar Amat while responding to a query of Congress MLA Pradip Amat
on Monday informed the State Assembly that the Government appointed Sibasish
Mishra as Advocate-on-Record on July 30, 2013 and Senior Advocate Gopal
Subramanyam as Special Advisor on September 11, 2013 in the Supreme Court in
the Supreme Court.
While
Mishra has so far been paid Rs 6,000, his pending dues now stand at Rs 33,000.
Similarly, Subramanyam has been paid Rs 12.10 lakh and his arrear dues amount
to Rs 35.53 lakh, the Minister informed the House.

He
said affidavits were submitted on July 31, 2013, Sept 30, 2013 and April 4,
2014 against the Writ Petition filed by Alok Jena in the Apex Court.
