Bhubaneswar, June 29: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on
Wednesday directed all departments to be in full state of readiness to tackle
possible floods as Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted excess
rains this year.

The CM directed ODRAF, Fire Services to be in
readiness with boats for instant deployment as first responders, implementation
of standard operating procedure, conduct of mock drills by departments, proper storage
of adequate flood fighting materials near weak and vulnerable embankments, watch
and ward arrangement at weak embankments and also directed the concerned
officials to ensure that food materials, essential commodities, emergency
supplies, safe drinking water, medicines for humans and animals are pre-positioned

“Last year our State witnessed severe drought
affecting more than 29,000 villages in 233 blocks of 27 districts. My
Government has provided Rs 862 crore to Collectors for disbursement of
agriculture input subsidy to affected farmers. Directed Collectors to complete
disbursement by 31st July, 2016,” observed Patnaik.
