No-helmet-no-petrol rule in Balsore from Aug 16

Balasore, July 28: The
Balasore district administration on Thursday decided to enforce the ‘no-helmet-no-petrol’ rule from August 16 in the district. 
 

District Collector
Pramod Das convened a meeting to discuss the implementation procedures wherein Regional
Transport Officer Amresh Patra, Additional SP Santosh Nayak, Sub-Collector
Ramchandra Palta, fuel outlet owners and intellectuals were present.
The Collector stated
that since a lot of fatal accidents occur due to absence of helmets; so, such
mishaps could be contained by putting on headgears.
“Awareness campaigns
will be conducted to make people aware about the rule from August 1 to 15,”
said Das.
As per the rule, petrol
won’t be given to the bikers without helmets and further action would be
initiated against the petrol pump owner if they flout the rule, he added. 
Instructions have been
given to the enforcement wing of the MVD to strictly implement the directive
and book the offenders.
The help of the police
has been sought and the district Police Chief approached for assistance.
