Crorepati Odisha woman Constable in Vigilance net

Cuttack, Aug 2: Vigilance sleuths on Tuesday
conducted simultaneous search on houses and office of Sambalpur district’s
Bareipali police outpost Constable Jayanti Sahoo and detected assets worth Rs
1,43,63,966 in her and her family members’ names.
Separate teams of the anti-corruption wing searched
the residential house of the woman Constable at Sambalpur Town, parental house
at Jagannath Prasad under Nakitdeul PS in Sambalpur district and office room at
Bareipali.
According to a Vigilance statement, detected assets
included a single-storey building at Sambalpur Town worth Rs 53,93,801, two
homestead lands worth Rs 8,00,985, a car and two motorcycles worth Rs
15,68,424, four tankers worth Rs 36,55,000, deposits of Rs 36,55,000, gold and
silver ornaments Rs 1,09,400, hard cash of Rs 1,04,060 and household articles
worth Rs 20,96,302.
Sahoo joined as Constable in Sambalpur District in
1995 and has served for more than 20 years in different police stations in
Sambalpur district.  She married to
Santosh Kumar Mohanty, who is unemployed. 
Interestingly, the lady cop’s husband has been
caught twice, while dealing with illicit business of PDS kerosene. Both the
cases have been chargesheeted and are subjudice, it added.
