Bhubaneswar, Sep 24: Two days’ discussion on Mahanadi waterdispute issue virtually yielded no results as Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik alleged
that Congress-led Government at the Centre and the BJP-led Government at the
Centre, both have supported Chhattisgarh on Mahanadi issue and Andhra on
Polavaram issue.

Stating that 65 per cent of the State’s population depends on
Mahanadi for drinking water, irrigation, power generation and fisheries, he
said construction of barrages by Chhatisgarh Government would also seriously
jeopardise the fragile eco-system such Satkosia, Bhitarkanika and Chilka etc.
