Odisha gets second planetarium, three more to come up

Sambalpur, September 22,
2017: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday inaugurated the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam
planetarium at Burla in Sambalpur in western Odisha to inculcate a scientific
temperament and rational attitude in the minds of people in general and particularly
among children.
The modern planetarium, the
State’s second planetarium was set up on six acre land at a cost of Rs 15 crore.
It will accommodate 170 to 180 visitors.
Six different shows will
be displayed in the planetarium. On the opening day nearly 150 orphan kids
witnessed the digital show at 4 pm.
Science and Technology
and School and Mass Education Minister Badri Narayan Patra, Textiles and
Handlooms Minister Shenahangini Chhuria, Government Deputy Chief Whip Rohit
Pujari and Sambalpur MLA Dr Raseswari Panigrahi, Science and Technology Secretary
Vir Vikaram Yadav, Sambalpur Collector Samarth Verma and other senior officials
were present.
A science park has also
been developed in the adjoining areas of the planetarium.
Three more planetariums are
coming up in Gopalpur, Baripada, and Rayagada, informed Science and Technology
Minister Badri Narayan Patra.
