Grand Odisha Biennale from Oct 28

Bhubaneswar, October 25, 2017: The third edition of Odisha Biennale, the
biggest art and culture festival of eastern India, would be held for eight days
from October 28 to November 5 in the Mindtree Kalmga Campus here.
The festival, which will be organised by the city-based NGO,
Mudra Foundation, has the set “Body+_Cloth=” as its theme. Japan Consul General
in Kolkata Taga and Mindtree co-founder Subroto Bagchi and his wife Susmita
Bagch will inaugurate event.
This 2017 edition of the Odisha Biennale would feature around
40 artists from over 10 countries. They include traditional Japanese dancer
Fujima Rankoh, Pantomime artist Rui Rui, Indian dancer and choreographer
Mandeep Raikhy, Luxembourg’s dance group VEDANZA, Moya Michael from South
Africa, Gombe Cultural Troupe from Uganda, among others.
Besides, Odia craft artisans from Cuttack, Kandhamal and
Jajpur would conduct a workshop on Dhokra and golden grass, respectively.
“The Odisha Biennale
is a platform to connect Odisha artists with global level ones. It will serve
as a bridge across culture and promote cultural diversity through innovation,
creativity and expression,” said Masaco Ono, the Binnale’s artistic director at
a news conference here.
The Biennale was launched in 2013.
Among others, Mudra foundation secretary Smaran Mohanty,
Italy photographer Elisa Motta, Italy musician Jacpo Cerolini, Tokyo-Odisha
Cultural Exchange head and Odisha Biennale director Matsuo Kunihiko were
present.
