November 10, 2017: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday launched ‘Sudakhya
programme’- an initiative to empower women through technical training.
“Our Government
has taken a decision to increase women trainees’ strength in ITIs from 7% to
30% within the next two years. Sudakhya will strive to encourage and facilitate
skills training in Government ITIs for 5000 girls and women in the current year
2017-18. Besides skill development, ensuring job or entrepreneurship
opportunities for the trainees will be a major responsibility of the programme,”
said Patnaik.
The new
initiative will encourage girls and women to take up skill development training
in diverse technical fields. The programme aims to bring women on to the
forefront of brand Skilled-In-Odisha by enhancing their enrollment in various
skills training institutes, said Patnaik.
Maintaining that
skill development is key to empowerment of women in various fields, Patnaik
said the initiative will enable them to be equal participants in socio-economic
progress and contribute significantly to the growth of their families, society
and state as a whole.
