Prof Ganeshi Lal takes oath as Governor of Odisha

Bhubaneswar, May 29, 2018: Prof Ganeshi Lal took oath as the
45th Governor of Odisha on Tuesday. A former Haryana BJP unit president, he was
administered the oath of office at Raj Bhavan by Chief Justice Vineet Saran of
the Orissa High Court at a special function in presence of Chief Minister
Naveen Patnaik.
Prof Lal took over as the new Governor of Odisha, a post
which had fallen vacant in March this year after veteran Naga leader SC Jamir
completed his tenure. Bihar Governor Satya Pal Malik had been given additional
charge of Odisha.
Before joining Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Lal was a professor
of Mathematics. He was a Minister in the HVP-BJP government under Chief
Minister Bansi Lal from 1996-99 in Haryana.
He was given a warm welcome on his arrival at Biju Patnaik
International Airport on Monday and later inspected a guard of honour at the airport.
He was received by the CM at the airport.
Earlier
in the day today, he visited Jagannath Temple in Puri and sought the blessings
of the sibling deities.
On
May 25, President Ram Nath Kovind appointed BJP leader Ganeshi Lal as Governor
of Odisha.
