KIIT sends medical team, skilled workers to Kerala

Bhubaneswar, August 26, 2018: The waters have receded, revealing the task ahead of Kerala to repair and rehabilitate. Power cuts,damaged roads, destroyed houses, waterlogged hospitals and people fighting trauma.

A team of 25 doctors and 75 skilled workers from Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), Bhubaneswar have proceeded to flood-ravaged Kerala on August 22 and 25, respectively to support flood-affected people of the State.

The team, which includes electricians, plumbers, welders, carpenters, snake catchers and A/C mechanics will support rehabilitation and restoration efforts in Ernakulam, Alappuzha, Thrissur and Kottayam districts.

KIMS has contributed an amount of Rs 10 lakh towards the tour expenditure of the teams.

Besides, the Founder, KIIT & KISS and Rajya Sabha member from BJD Dr Achyuta Samanta has also donated Rs 2 lakh from his salary for supply of medicine and other health kits to the flood victims of Kerala.
