English Hockey players visit SAI International School

Bhubaneswar: The touring English Hockey players on Wednesday gave students of SAI International School here a day to remember as they spent a few hours giving a few tricks on hockey, playing and having loads of fun.

For the students, Wednesday was not ‘just another day’. It was the day the young students got an opportunity to meet the England Hockey Team. Captain George Pinner introduced the talented players followed by an interaction with the students, where the jovial team asked some interesting questions. The players gave away some T-shirts to the students who answered correctly to their questions.

Their joys knew no bounds when the Captain himself took charge to teach the youngsters a few tricks of hockey.

“These kids are keen to learn, and they have a lot of potential,” said Pinner further advising students to play as much sports as possible.

British Deputy High Commission, Kolkata Deputy Head of Mission Shahida Khan said that the glow in the face of the English players is an indication of how much they loved the time spent in the school and added that this fantastic interaction is a great way to strengthen the 70-year-old UK-India tie.

England Hockey Team Manager Andy Halliday also thanked the SAIoneers for the rousing welcome and hospitality.

England Hockey Team Performance Director Edward Barney, school Principal Harish Sanduja also spoke.

The team is in Odisha to play the Odisha Men’s Hockey World Cup at the Kalinga Stadium here.
