200 VCs, Directors, overseas delegates to join 2-day AIU meet at SOA

Bhubaneswar: Around 200 Vice-Chancellors and Directors of Higher Education Institutions (HEI), besides overseas delegates, will gather for the 93rd Annual General Meeting of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) to be hosted by the SOA University here from February 16 to 18.

The conference is expected to be attended by diplomats, heads of overseas academic organization members, World Bank nominees and other international academic beacons as well.

The theme of the conference is ‘Autonomy for Excellence’ on which a national seminar will be organised with several sub-themes to deliberate on their impact on higher education. The resolutions adopted in the meet are expected to play a pivotal role in the nation’s future higher education policies.

AIU is the single umbrella organization under which universities of all varieties in India are enrolled and registered making its annual conference the highest profile conclave of academic leaders of the country who chalk out the blueprint of the future of the nation’s higher education. The AIU includes all types of universities including Central Universities, State Universities, Deemed to be Universities, Private Universities, Technical Universities, and others.

The focal theme of the conference, to be held at the SOA Convention Centre, will be ‘Autonomy for Excellence’ on which a national seminar will be organised with several sub-themes to deliberate on their impact on higher education. The sub-themes will include Promotion of Sports and Sports Culture and the Fourth Industrial Revolution, in keeping with the times.

The other sub-themes to be discussed will comprise Social Development and Sustainability, Ranking, Rating and Research, Internationalization as a strategy for Excellence and Faculty Selection and Development.

The resolutions adopted in the meet are expected to play a pivotal role in the nation’s future higher education policies.
