862 polytechnic students participate in ‘Poly Fest-2019’

Bhubaneswar: At least 862 polytechnic students, including 274 girls are participating in the two-day State-level sports and cultural meet ‘Poly Fest-2019’ which kicked started at the Kalinga Stadium on Sunday here.

The fest is being organised by the Directorate of Technical Education and Training with an aim to foster a healthy spirit of competition and improving the aspiration level of the Diploma students of all Government and private polytechnics.

Sports and Youth Services Department Secretary Vishal Kumar Dev inaugurated the fest, the first of its kind in polytechnic ecosystem in the country.

The objective of conducting the fest is to expose trainer and trainees to competitive spirit and team work. It aims to attract attention of society and intelligentsia toward skills.

Speaking on the occasion, Dev highlighted the Government’s effort to provide opportunity and platform to the youth of Odisha to showcase their talent.

The 862 participants represent 33 Government and 56 Diploma polytechnics of six zones – Cuttack, Balasore, Berhampur, Rourkela, Khurda and Puri.
