Bhubaneswar: Senior leader Sonali Sahoo, who resigned from the Congress on Thursday, joined BJP on Friday.
Sahoo, who was serving as the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) spokesperson, quit the party expressing displeasure over ticket distribution for Assembly elections. She was a ticket aspirant from Khurda Assembly segment. The party has fielded Swagatika Patnaik from Khurda this time. She also directly had held OPCC president Niranjan Patnaik and his son for irregularities in the ticket distribution.
The woman leader joined the party in the presence of Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and other senior leaders at the State party headquarters here.
Welcoming Sahoo to the party fold, Pradhan said the senior woman leader’s joining in the BJP will strengthen the party in the State.
