Fani Restoration: CM opens Rebuild Odisha portal for crowd funding


Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday launched a web portal (Rebuild Odisha) which has been developed for crowd funding for various projects in cyclone Fani-affected areas in Odisha.

At least 43 people have been killed as the cyclone wreaked havoc in the State on May 3.

“Extremely Severe Cyclone Fani has devastated Odisha on May 3 causing huge loss to infrastructure and livelihood. It now becomes our foremost duty to help our people affected by this calamity. I appeal to all Individuals, Central and State PSUs, Corporate Houses, Business and Industrial Houses, Banks and Charitable institutions, Trust and other institutions to contribute generously to Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, Odisha,” said Patnaik.

Through this portal, departments will be able to elicit public donations for restoration and reconstitution of assets relating to sectors like education, Anganwadi, water supply in both urban and rural areas as well as other community infrastructure which were devastated by the cyclone that require immediate funding.

Individuals, corporate houses, PSUs and organisations can contribute to project specific funding through this portal.

The portal is meant for a wide campaign to raise contributions for rehabilitation and reconstruction activities to rebuild Odisha in the post cyclone phase.

As per the Situation Report released by the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), at least 1,50,94,321 people have been affected 159 blocks in 14 districts – Angul, Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Keonjhar, Khordha, Mayurbhanj, Nayagarh and Puri.

A total 159 blocks, 52 ULBs, 16659 villages, 5,08,467 houses and 87,39,657 livestock were affected and 34,56,362 livestock casualties were also reported, read the latest SEOC report.

The cyclone has extensively damaged the power infrastructure in Puri, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur and Jajpur districts. At least 5030 kms of 33 KV lines, 38613 kms of 11 KV lines and 79485 km of LT lines have been destroyed in these districts. Besides power infrastructure, telecommunication and water facility has also witnessed massive damage.

The extreme severe cyclonic storm barrelled through the Odisha coast near Puri causing extensive damage.
