Lanjigarh: Vedanta Lanjigarh’s flagship educational initiative ‘Shiksha Sambal’ has enabled 76% of the total number of students, who had appeared for the annual High School Certificate Examination (HSC) or Matriculation, to pass with flying colours in Kalahandi district.
The overall district success rate in matriculation in Kalahandi stood at 59.76% followed by Rayagada 60.89%. In comparison, the share of success of Odisha was around 70.78%. The HSC results were published recently.
Initiated in 2015 as a pilot project in the Government High School, Lanjigarh and Government SSD School Ashrampada, Lanjigarh, the ‘Shiksha Sambal’ project achieved significant success in three years in creating an adequate support system that reduced the number of student dropouts and ensured better results.
Lanjigarh Refinery CEO Rakesh Mohan said that the success rate of students has been increased by 28.53% compared to the previous year. Another notable achievement of the programme was that 23 students have scored in the top percentile grade of A2 and B2, he added.
Vedanta’s Lanjigarh unit, under its corporate social responsibility programme launched the ‘Shiksha Sambal’ for providing pre-matric tutorial classes in seven Government schools around its plant periphery, reaching out to more than 1,000 students from Class-VIII to X.
