Tech Mahindra, TATA Strive to help Odisha in skilling youth, creating jobs

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government on Monday signed MoUs with Tech Mahindra and TATA Strive for setting up of Centre of Excellence in artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning and international BPO and imparting life skills in Government ITIs.

The Skill Development and Technical Education (SD&TE) Department signed the MoU and two agreements with the Tech Mahindra and TATA Strive in the presence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in the Kharvela Bhawan here.

“Our vision is to make Odisha the nucleus of global skilled manpower requirement by enhancing our skill to such a level that all the top industrial houses across the globe rope in our worksforce in large numbers,” said Patnaik.

He thanked both for supporting Odisha’s endeavour and tech intervention in skilling youth.

The first agreement was signed between the SD&TE and Tata Strive to impart life skills to the students of Government ITIs. As per the agreement, Life Skill will be imparted to the students of the all the 49 Government IITs in the State.

The MoU was signed among the Tech Mahindra and Bhubaneswar-based Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) and College of Engineering and Technology (CET), to set up a Centre of Excellence (CoE) in the area of artificial intelligence and machine learning, where students will get an opportunity to work on proof of concept on the real life business problems to keep up with market demand and to enhance the employability of engineering students.

Every year 30 students will get training in the CoE in the field of AI/ML for a period of 12 months.

The third agreement was signed between IDCO and Tech Mahindra to setup a state-of-the-art facility to start its operations for international BPO for the Fortune-500 global customers to be serviced from Fortune Tower, Bhubaneswar.

On the occasion the Chief Minister awarded Rs 10 lakh to Aswath Narayan for winning gold at World Skill Competition in Russia.

MSME Minister Dibya Sankar Mishra, SD&TE Minister Premananda Nayak, Electronic and IT Minister Tusarkanti Behera, OSDA Chairman Subrotoo Bagchi, Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy was present on the occasion.
