Bhubaneswar: BJD president Naveen Patnaik on Friday appointed senior leader Pranab Prakash Das as the party general secretary (organisation).
Political analysts said that BJD supremo and Chief Minister Patnaik gave the responsibility to Das for his experience of electoral politics. The new position is considered to be the second most powerful post after BJD president.
Patnaik also assigned organisational charge to two other senior leaders.
While Aul MLA Pratap Keshari Deb was appointed as the State returning officer to conduct organisational poll, former MLA and Minister Sanjay Das Burma was appointed as the general secretary of the party (headquarters).
For the first time the BJD supremo has created the post – general secretary (organisation) and headquarters in the party.
The BJD said in a statement that their appointments come into immediate effect.
