Woman gives birth to triplets in train

Bhubaneswar: A 29-year-old woman gave birth to triplets (three babies) in a train at Jajpur Keonjhar Road station on Friday morning.

Munzila Khatunm, who was seven month pregnant, was travelling from Bangalore to Gauhati in train number 12509 when she gave birth to three premature babies at Jajpur Keonjhar Road station, said an East Coast Railway (ECoR) communiqué.

Immediately, the railway staff swung into action and she got down at Bhadrak station. She was attended by railway doctors and Additional Chief Medical Superintendent of Bhadrak along with nursing and paramedical staffs at 5.50 am.

However, out of three babies, two died. After umbelica cord cutting and dressing, the mother and the living baby were shifted to Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital by 108 Ambulance for further treatment. The condition of the woman was stated to be stable.
