President Kovind arrives in Odisha on two-day visit

Bhubaneswar: President Ram Nath Kovind arrived here on Saturday evening to lay foundation stone of the Paika memorial at Barunei in Khurda district and attend the closing ceremony of the platinum jubilee celebrations of the Utkal University.

He arrived by a special flight at the Biju Patnaik International Airport and was received by Odisha Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal, Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and other dignitaries.

Later, the President was driven to Raj Bhavan where he will stay overnight.

On Sunday, the President would visit Barunei in Khurda district by IAF chopper where he will lay foundation stone of the Paika memorial at 10:35 am and attend closing ceremony of the platinum jubilee celebrations of Utkal University at 12:30 pm. He will leave for New Delhi at 5:10 pm on Sunday.

Around 50 platoons of police force have been deployed in view of the President’s visit.
