Exclusive Japanese industrial cluster & township to come up near Bhubaneswar!

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday proposed Japanese Ambassador Satoshi Suzuki to set up an exclusive Japanese industrial cluster and township near Bhubaneswar.

The Chief Minister also urged the Japan Ambassador to consider be the country partner for Make In Odisha Concalve 2020, once again.

A high-level delegation of Japanese investors led by Union Steel, Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan met the Chief Minister here at the Lokseva Bhavan here to discuss about the development of steel clusters and prospects of Japanese investment in steel and downstream industries in Odisha.

Union Minister Pradhan said that Nippon Steel and JFE in partnership with ArcelorMittal and JSW Steel would make big investments in Odisha.

“I am glad Arcelor Mittal and Nippon Steel, JSW Steel and JFE Steel are joining hands. I am confident that success of these ventures will encourage other foreign investors to partner in India’s growth story in steel sector,” said Pradhan.

“More than 75% of India’s envisioned incremental steel capacity will come from eastern India with Odisha alone crossing 100 MTPA. There is immense scope for growth in high grade steel, downstream sector, ancillaries, capital goods and cluster development,” added Pradhan, who hails from Odisha.

Pradhan said, “Mission Purvodaya in the steel sector envisions creating an integrated steel hub in Eastern India. With abundance of raw material, strategic location and strong and developing connectivity, Odisha is well-poised to be the heart of this eastern steel hub. In Odisha, Kalinganagar will be developed as the epicentre of Mission Purvodaya.”

He said that the Steel Ministry is working together with the Odisha Government, Central ministries and industry to make Kalinganagar a vibrant hotspot of global steel industry.

Japanese technological expertise and investments will further strengthen the steel sector in Odisha and drive socio-economic growth.
