Odisha Govt extends DGP Abhay’s tenure till December 31, 2021

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government on Wednesday extended the service period of Director General of Police (DGP) and Head of Police Force (HoPF) Abhay till December 31, 2021.

As per the Supreme Court judgement in Prakash Singh case and recommendations of UPSC empanelment committee, DGP will now have a two-year tenure.

“The Government has been pleased to extend the service period of Abhay, IPS, DG and IG of Police (HoPF) Odisha till 31.12.2021 to make his tenure two years as DG and IG of Police (HoPF) as per the OM dated 18.05.1977 issued by Ministry of Home Affairs,” said a State Home Department notification.

In November 2019, the Odisha Government appointed 1986-batch IPS officer Abhay as the new DGP and head of police force.
