Puri: The Puri district administration on Saturday declared Danagohir village in Pipili block as a containment zone and sealed the entire area as a precautionary measure to contain the spread of novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), a day after a positive case was reported in the area.
The restriction will be in force for ten-days till April 14. The move is aimed to contain the possible spread of COVID-19. The administration has declared the region as a containment zone.
The Covid-19 positive person, detected in Puri district on Friday, belongs to Danagahir village. The patient was asymptomatic. The contact tracing of the patient was underway by the State Health and Family Welfare Department.
“The Puri District Administration today declared Danagohir village in Pipili block as a containment zone and sealed the entire area as a precautionary measure to contain the spread of #COVID19,” tweeted the Puri district administration. The Sub-Collector has been assigned the task of ensuring essential commodities to the residents in the prohibited area.
“No public shall be allowed to move into the containment zone and the inhabitants within the containment zone shall not move out,” said an order.
The Odisha Government has declared a complete shutdown in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Bhadrak town for 48 hours starting 8 pm on Friday to prevent community transmission of COVID-19.
With 15 cases in the State on Friday, the total COVID-19 cases in Odisha now stand at 20, of which the two patients have been cured and discharged, so far.
