Bhubaneswar: Two days after Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik directed Director General of Police (DGP) Abhay to punish the habitual offenders of domestic violence, the State Commission for Women (SCW) on Thursday also issued Whatsapp helpline number (8763543013) to address issues related to violence against women during the ongoing lockdown period.
“During the lockdown period, it has been noticed that, number of violence against women has been increased throughout the State. For easy access to victims, the Commission introduces a WhatsApp helpline no 8763543013,” said the SCW in a statement.
Notably, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, worried over incidents of domestic violence being reported across the country, on Tuesday directed the DGP to take stringent action against the perpetrators.
Accordingly, the State police headquarters issued circular saying victims of domestic violence need not visit police stations to lodge complaints and asked them to lodge complaint over telephone.
