Matric, Plus-II exams postponed in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, April 15: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday directed postponement of all board examinations by State Boards, including Matric (Class-X) and Plus-II (Class-XII) in view of the prevailing COVID-19 situation in the State.

The Chief Minister also directed that all the schools and hostels will remain closed from Monday (April-19).

“The annual Matric examinations (Class-X exams) conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha (BSE) and Plus-II examinations conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) for the year 2021 have been postponed in view of the rising COVID-19 cases,” said a CMO communique.

While Matric examination was scheduled from May 3, Plus-II exam was scheduled to begin from May 18.

The State Government will review COVID-19 situation in June first week before taking decision on next date, added the release.

Meanwhile, the Central Government has already cancelled the CBSE Class-10 examinations and postponed the CBSE Class-12 examinations for this year due to the COVID-19 situation.
