Bhubaneswar, April 16: To check hoarding and black marketing of medicines and other medical supplies essential for treatment and prevention of COVID-19, the Odisha Government on Friday formed a State-level committee.
Additional DGP, CID, Crime Branch has been appointed as the Chairman of the committee. The Committee will also have an officer not below the rank of Joint Secretary from the Health Department and Drugs Controller as the Member-Convenor, said a Home Department notification.
The committee will supervise the district wise availability of essential medical supplies and ensure that officers are taking steps to prevent hoarding and black-marketing. District authorities will monitor the availability of essential medical supplies and take corrective actions, it said.
“In the wake of resurgence in Covid-19 cases, it has come to notice that medicines and medical supplies are being hoarded and black marketed by some unscrupulous elements. To prevent such activities Odisha Govt has constituted a State Level Committee Chaired by Additional DGP, CID, CB,” it added.
