Odisha constructing 30 Instream Storage Structures, 16 more in pipeline, says CM

Bhubaneswar November 9: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday said that the State Water Resources Department is constructing 30 Instream Storage Structures and 16 more are in pipeline located across different rivers with a budget outlay of about Rs 12,000 crore.

“They will provide double benefit with conservation of surface water and increase in ground water table,” said Patnaik.

The Chief Minister was speaking at the orientation programme organised for 257 Junior Engineers (Civil), including 87 women engineers, who joined the State Water Resources Department.

He asked them to work with passion, be honest and sensitive towards people of Odisha.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister launched a procurement management information system PROMISe, that will be very useful in managing steps of procurement with up-to-date info, records and status of different works. He also announced that a comprehensive computer application, Water ERP will be launched soon.

“Water ERP will be highly useful in overall planning, management of irrigation and flood in efficient manner on a real time basis,” said CM Patnaik.
