Puri, February 13: A mammoth flag was hoisted on 108 feet monumental flagpole at the Batagaon Chowk near Biraharekrushnapur, the entry point of Puri city, the abode of Lord Jagannath. Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal hoisted it in the presence of Flag Foundation of India president Naveen Jindal.
Gracing the event, the Governor said, “Our national flag stands for Indianness, which essentially represents truth, sacrifice and nature.”
The flag was installed by Flag Foundation of India in association with the National Highways Authority of India.
School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash, MoS (E&IT, Sports & YS, Home) Tusharkanti Behera, Puri MLA Jayanta Sarangi, JSPL Chairman Naveen Jindal, Flag Foundation of India vice president Shallu Jindal were present.
The concept of the monumental flagpoles in India was conceived to inspire young Indians to take pride in displaying the National Flag and instil a sense of patriotism among the citizens.
