Odisha: CM launches distribution of bicycles to 8,000 community partners

Bhubaneawar March 2: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday launched the bicycle distribution programme at a function in Lokseva Bhawan here to cover 8,000 community partners – Jalasathi, Aahaar Karmi, Swachha Karmi, Swachha Sathi, Swachha Supervisor engaged in urban development programmes across 115 urban local bodies (ULBs).

“Besides facilitating their mobility, access to personal transportation will also address challenges faced by women and other vulnerable sections in workforce participation, thus promoting their empowerment further,” said Chief Minister Patnaik.

Housing and Urban Development Minister Usha Devi, Women and Child Development Minister Basanti Hembram, Bhubaneawar Municipal Corporation Mayor Sulochana Das, H&UD Department Principal Secretary G Mathi Vathanan and BMC Commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange were also present.

The State Government has decided to provide institutional mobility support to various urban facilities partnering with community-based organisations working under schemes and programmes such as Aahaar, Water Supply Management, Water Treatment Plant, Urban Sanitation, Shelter for Urban Homeless, among others.
