Sambalpur/Bhubaneswar, July 7: The Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), a premier subsidiary of Coal India Ltd, will provide e-rickshaws to 50 Divyangs (Differently-abled persons) in Sambalpur district, under its CSR project “Saksham” which offers livelihood opportunities to the needy.
As per a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed on Thursday with the Sambalpur district administration, MCL will provide financial assistance to the district administration for procurement of 50 E-Rickshaw to be allotted to ‘divyang’ people of the district.
According to a Ministry of Steel statement, generating sustainable self-employment to needy divyang, this Corporate Social Responsibility CSR initiative will also promote green and clean environment by encouraging electric transport.
The MoU was signed by MCL General Manager (CSR) Rajanikanta Panigrahi and Sambalpur District Social Security Officer (DSSO) Madanjit Hota.
