Odisha: President Droupadi Murmu breaks protocol to meet people in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, July 25: President Droupadi Murmu was given a rousing welcome on Tuesday as she arrived at the Bhubaneswar airport on a three-day visit to Odisha, her native State. She once again broke protocol to meet people who gathered outside the Biju Patnaik International Airport here to welcome her.

Soon after she landed at the airport on a special flight from Delhi, the President was escorted out of the airport amid tight security. Seeing people holding placards welcoming her, she stopped the convoy and got down from the car and walked to the people and interacted with them.

This was Murmu’s third visit to her State of origin after she took oath as the country’s constitutional head in February.

Upon her arrival at the airport, she was welcomed by Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Chief Justice of Orissa High Court Dr S Muralidhar, BMC Mayor Sulochana Das.

In the evening, the President interacted with a group of medical students sponsored by ATUT-BANDHAN family and laid the foundation stone for a new building block of Odisha Raj Bhavan in Bhubaneswar.

On July 26 (Wednesday), the President will grace the valedictory function of 75th year celebrations of the High Court of Orissa in Cuttack. On the same day, she will also address the annual function of SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack and grace the convocation of National Law University Odisha in Cuttack.

On July 27 (Thursday), President Murmu will interact with the members of PVTGs at the Raj Bhavan in Bhubaneswar. On the same day, she will launch this year’s theme of Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya “The Year of Positive Change” for conducting nationwide seminar and conferences and lay the foundation stone for its “Lighthouse Complex” at Dasabatia, Tamando, Bhubaneswar.
