Bhubaneswar, November 19: A day after unearthing crores of rupees belonging to Subash Chandra Panda, Deputy General Manager (Civil) of Odisha State Police Housing Welfare Corporation (OSPHWC), Berhampur division Vigilance sleuths on Tuesday arrested the former for possession of disproportionate assets.
Notably, in a dramatic turn of events, Panda allegedly threw Rs 10 lakh of cash onto a neighbour’s terrace after spotting the vigilance team raiding his house on Monday.
During simultaneous searches, Panda was found in possession of disproportionate assets including 2 multi storeyed buildings including 1 triple storeyed palatial building at Bhubaneswar, payment of Rs 66 lakh to realtor to purchase one flat in Bhubaneswar, gold weighing 870 gms, five high value plots, Rs 1.84 crore deposits, Rs 13.47 lakh of cash.
Panda was previously dismissed from service in 2010 for gross misconduct, dereliction of duty and for disobeying orders. He was later reinstated following an Orissa High Court order.
