Bhubaneawar, July 29: To make Bhubaneswar environment friendly with less carbon emission, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday flagged off 10 e-buses and 50 e-rickshaws.
In future, the number of e-buses will increase to 50. Emphasising on gender equality, women will constitute 50% of the guides, appointed by Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT).
Patnaik he facilitated the first Mo Bus Woman Captain in Public Transport sector of Odisha and our Sarathis of Mo E-Ride.
Focus will also be on employment of women in other operations.
While there are 30 seats in each bus, the seats reserved for women have been marked in pink. The zero emission electric vehicles will promote green mobility while paving the way for a sustainable future.
Housing & Urban Development Minister Usha Devi, Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra and Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation Mayor Sulochana Das among others were present.
