Bhubaneswar, October 29: Senior BJP leader Tejeswar Parida on Wednesday met National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC) Chairperson Hansraj Gangaram Ahir here and presented a memorandum demanding inclusion of ‘Khandayat’ community in the Central OBC list.

NCBC Chairperson Ahir, along with Member Bhuvan Bhushan Kamal, and Secretary Meeta Rajivlocha conducted a public hearing at the State Guest House here to hear out grievances of the OBCs and discuss the constitutional rights of the backward classes.

“Khandayat community – which is currently recognised as a Socially and Educationally Backward Class (SEBC) in the State of Odisha has not yet listed in the Central OBC List. So, I met the Commission and demanded that our long-standing demand be taken into consideration at the earliest,” said Parida.

A large number of intellectuals from the Khandayat community joined Parida in today’s public hearing of the Commission.

Earlier in the day, Parida, who happens to be the Chairman of the Centre for Policy, Governance & Advocacy and the BJP State unit spokesperson welcomed NCBC Chairperson, Member and Secretary at the Bhubaneswar Airport on their arrival.
