New state-of-art BMC office in Madhusudan Nagar

Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has
identified 5.519 acres of land in Madhusudan Nagar for construction of its state-of-the-art
headquarters.
In the first phase, BMC has moved General Administration
Department for allotment of 1.934 acre of land for the purpose. The proposed
main office building will have all wings of BMC at one place.
BMC has also identified 3.190 acre of land in Gopabandhu
Nagar (Bachelor’s Barrack) in unit-8 for developing a modern Commercial
Complex. A proposal in this regard is being moved to GA department for
allotment of land, said a press release.
The above sites were finalized during a joint site visit
headed by the Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary accompanied
by Special Secretary, GA Department BMC Commissioner on May 6.
Similarly, BMC has identified space for development of state-of-art
multi-level parking in seven places in public private partnership (PPP) mode
and two surface parking to ease traffic congestion in high deficit areas in the
city. The sites identified for multi-level parking places are opposite Pantha
Niwas (BJB Nagar), Bapuji Nagar, Rajmahal Square, behind Market Building in
Unit-2, Ashok Nagar, CRP Square and Sahid Nagar.
Similarly, two surface parking will be developed, one
between the Raj Mahal and the Master Canteen Squre and another between the
Rupali Square and the Vani Vihar square. A decision to this effect was taken at
a meeting held under chairmanship of BMC Commissioner Dr Krishan Kumar on
Thursday A joint survey team comprising GA Department, BDA and BMC and
Commissionerate Police (Traffic) officials had recommended to this effect.
