Bhubaneswar: With a
view to extending better healthcare facilities to the people living in rural
and inaccessible areas, Tata Steel will host the Lifeline Express, the world’s
first Hospital on-Wheels, for the third time at Jajpur Road and for the eighth
time in Odisha from December 3 to 23, 2014.

It will offer on the
spot diagnostic, medical and surgical interventions free of cost to the
disabled, poor and general public. The steel major had brought this unique
health service initiative to different parts of the State for seven times on
earlier occasions.

The initiative aims at
providing free surgical interventions in areas of post-polio deformities,
hearing disorders, dental, cleft lip and eye problems. People living in the farthest
corners of Jajpur and nearby districts will be benefited from this Lifeline
Express. The Lifeline Express will be stationed at the Jajpur Road Railway
station for 20 days.

Prior to this, Tata
Steel has hosted Lifeline Express in locations like Gopalpur, Daitari, Jajpur
Road, Meramundali and Joda in Odisha. The initiative had come to the aid of
more than 24,000 differently-abled persons in Odisha.

has fully equipped Operation Theatre to conduct three operations
simultaneously, Pre and Post-operative ward, Diesel Generating Sets for
continuous power supply, Audiometric
Diagnostic, X-ray and Pathological Laboratory, changing and rest rooms for
surgeons and Para-medical staff between surgeries and an auditorium that can seat up to 50 people.

that have been set up in the rural areas and by introducing mobile
healthcare units and organising health camps, Tata Steel’s healthcare services
reaches out to around 4 lakh people in Odisha every year. With laying of the
foundations for a 500 bed modern hospital in Gopalpur and a 200 bed hospital in
Kalinganagar in February this year, the steel major has reiterated its
commitment to take healthcare service in the State to greater heights in
future.
