Penalty for throwing garbage on roads in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, Sep12: You
will now have to pay a fine of up to Rs 5000 if caught dumping garbage on roads
except in the dustbins and prescribed locations provided or marked by the Bhubaneswar
Municipal Corporation (BMC) in the capital city of Bhubaneswar, sources said.
After the failure of
several awareness campaigns, requests and many other initiatives to convince citizens
and commercial establishments in the temple city to dump their garbage at the
prescribed locations, the BMC in its monthly council meeting held on Thursday
decided to prosecute offenders with a fine starting form Rs 100 to of up to Rs
5000 starting from Friday, September 12.
Throwing garbage on
roads will be will be punishable according to sources in the BMC.

The meeting which was attended
by BMC Mayor Anatna Narayan Jena and Commissioner Dr Krishan Kumar and almost all the corporators, has also taken many other decisions in order to ensure a clean
Bhubaneswar.
