Self employment training for disabled planned in Odisha

Women and Child Development Secretary Arti Ahuja on Friday said the Vocational
Rehabilitation Centre (VRC) here will impart self-employment orientated
training to 280 PWDs in a year in four trades like tailoring, domestic
appliances repairing, computer and soft skills.

Speaking at the job
fair held for disabled jointly by VRC and Delhi-based NGO Sarthak Education
Trust the Secretary said the Mission Employment department of the State has
already sanctioned Rs 64 lakh out of which Rs 32 lakh has already been
released.
About 500 PWDs from
across the State participated and interviewed by private sector industries like
Tech Mahindra, Jindal Steel, Emphasis, SERCO, FSL, Om, PNV venture, AGIES,
Vishal Mega Mart etc in the job fair organised at the VRC campus.

visited the job fair and interacted with employers and appreciated joint and
collaborative efforts of the organiser and appealed to the corporate world to
extend support by hiring PWDs which is untapped excellent human resources.

Dr Jitendra Aggrawal and VRC Rehabilitation Officer Ram Kishore Sharma were
present on the occasion.
