Odisha seeks 3 Central institute branches for disabled

Bhubaneswar, Aug 25: The Odisha Government on Monday
demanded that the Union Government set up of regional centres of three national
level institutes like Regional Centers of National Institute for Empowerment of
Persons with Multiple Disabilities (NIEPMD) located at Chennai, National
Institute for Mentally Retarded (NIMR) at Secunderabad and National Institute
of Visually Handicapped (NIVH), Dehradun in the State.
Submitting a memorandum to Union Minister for Social Justice
and Empowerment TC Gehlot at the State Guest House here, Odisha Disability
Welfare Minister Pranab Prakash Das said the Government has identified land for
establishment of NIMR and NIVH at Olatpur near NIRTAR.
Similarly, for the regional centre NIEPMD the Government has
identified land on the outskirt of Bhubaneswar city, the Odisha Minister
apprised the Union Minister.  Odisha SC
& ST Development Minister Lalbihari Himirika was also present in the
meeting.

The Union Minister assured the State Government of all
supports.
