‘Assured’ Shree Jagannath temple temporary employees withdraw stir

Bhubaneswar, December 17: After getting assurance from the Shree
Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), as many as 243 temporary employees of
world famous Jagannath temple at Puri on the third day of their indefinite
strike on Wednesday called off their strike.
The agitating employees of the 12th century shrine
withdrew their strike after the SJTA Ritual Administrator PK Hota and other
officials assured the office bearers of the Shree Mandir Karmachari Sangh
(SMKS) for a hike in their wages.
The Class III and Class IV employees of the SJTA have been
demanding regularisation of their jobs and hike in wages.

The SMKS was demanding a minimum salary of Rs 15,000 for
Class III employees and Rs 13,000 for Class IV employees.
