Odisha CM leaves for Delhi today to attend Inter-State Council meeting

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik
Bhubaneswar, July 14:
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will leave on a four-day visit to New Delhi on Thursday
afternoon.

He is
scheduled to attend the inter-State Council meeting to be presided over by the
Prime Minister on July 16 (Saturday). On July 15, Patnaik scheduled to meet
some Central Ministers to discuss some State related issues. He is expected to
return on July 17.

The
Inter-State Council meeting is being held after a gap of 10 years.
Apart
from economic and social planning of the states, the inter-State relations,
internal security and other issues would be debated at the Council meeting. The
Chief Minister is expected to raise the construction of barrage over Mahanadi
by Chhattisgarh Government, release of pending drought dues and more assistance
to the State Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana in the meeting.

Prime
Minister Narendra Modi is the chairman of the Inter-State Council, whereas Chief
Ministers of all the States are the members.

Sources
said Patnaik along with Chief Secretary AP Padhi will participate in the
meeting. This is the 11th meeting of the Inter-State Council, which was
established under Article 263 of the Constitution in 1990. The last meeting of
the Council was held in 2006 during UPA regime.
