The CCTV footage shows that a youth comes from behind and
attacks the two youths with a wooden plank while they were walking along the
road near the Sai Rachita Residency, a girls’ hostel around 9.11 pm on
Saturday. After the two fell down on the ground, the assailant mercilessly beat
them and fled the spot.

The deceased was identified as Basant Pradhan of Ganapati
Nagar in the city and the grievously injured as Lambodhara of the same area.

According to locals, they dialed the PCR for help but the

Police rushed them to the Capital Hospital where one of them
was declared dead on arrival. The other youth has been shifted to the SCB
Medical College Hospital in Cuttack in a critical condition.
